About the role

We're looking for an experienced Senior Payroll Partner to join our team based in Auckland. In this role, you'll take ownership of end-to-end payroll processing while also providing day-to-day support and guidance to Payroll Partners, helping ensure our people are paid accurately, compliantly and on time, every time.

What you'll be doing

You'll play a key role in the day-to-day delivery of payroll services, ensuring payroll activities are completed accurately, compliantly and to a high standard. Your responsibilities will include:

Taking ownership of end-to-end payroll processing and ensuring pay runs are completed accurately and on time.
Mentoring Payroll Partners with day-to-day payroll activities
Working closely with time and attendance systems, providing guidance on pay rules, testing changes and ensuring configurations are accurate and effective.
Maintaining employee data and ensuring payroll information is managed securely and accurately.
Processing payroll-related payments, deductions and KiwiSaver contributions.
Completing month-end reconciliations, payroll reporting and year-end activities.
Managing payroll compliance across tax obligations, employee entitlements, Holidays Act requirements and payroll controls.
Investigating and resolving payroll queries in a timely and professional manner.
Building strong relationships with People & Performance, Finance, FletcherTech and business stakeholders to deliver great customer outcomes.
Providing ad-hoc reporting and contributing to payroll projects and initiatives as required.
Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and helping implement positive change across payroll processes.
About you

You'll bring significant payroll experience and be confident working in a dynamic environment where accuracy, compliance and customer service are critical.

Ideally, you'll have:

5+ years' experience in a high-volume payroll environment within New Zealand.
Strong knowledge of New Zealand employment legislation and the Holidays Act.
Experience interpreting Collective and Individual Employment
Strong understanding of payroll compliance, controls and employee entitlements.
The ability to perform off-system payroll calculations and identify discrepancies.
Experience maintaining compliance across end-to-end payroll processes.
Excellent attention to detail, accuracy and numeracy skills.
Strong communication skills with the ability to provide professional advice and support to stakeholders.
A customer-focused mindset and a commitment to delivering service excellence.
The ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and perform effectively under pressure.
NZPPA certification (Level 3 or above) would be advantageous but not essential
