About the role

We're looking for an experienced Payroll Partner to join our team based in Auckland, taking ownership of end-to-end payroll processing and helping ensure our people are paid accurately, compliantly and on time, every time. The role plays a key part in maintaining payroll compliance, supporting time and attendance systems, and delivering a great experience for employees across the business.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys the detail of payroll, understands employment legislation and payroll compliance, and takes pride in delivering high-quality service in a complex and fast-paced environment.
What you'll be doing
You'll take ownership of your allocated pay runs from start to finish, ensuring everything is accurate, compliant and delivered on time. Your day-to-day will include:

Managing the end-to-end payroll process, including time and attendance inputs, employee data maintenance and payroll processing.
Ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time across each pay cycle.
Working closely with time and attendance systems, providing guidance on pay rules, testing changes and helping ensure system configurations are accurate and fit for purpose.
Processing and reviewing allowances, deductions, KiwiSaver contributions and other payroll payments.
Completing payroll reporting, month-end reconciliations and year-end activities.
Supporting payroll compliance requirements, including monitoring work patterns and ensuring compliance with employment legislation, tax obligations and employee entitlements.
Maintaining a strong focus on payroll controls, accuracy and data security.
Investigating and resolving payroll queries, escalating issues where appropriate and ensuring a positive customer experience.
Building strong relationships across Payroll, People & Performance, Finance, Systems teams and the wider business.
Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and supporting the implementation of positive change.
About you
You'll bring solid payroll experience and be confident working in a dynamic business environment where accuracy, compliance and customer service really matter.
Ideally, you'll have:

At least 3 years' experience in a high-volume payroll environment.
Strong knowledge of New Zealand employment legislation, payroll compliance and the Holidays Act.
Experience interpreting Collective and Individual Employment Agreements
A strong understanding of payroll controls, tax obligations, KiwiSaver and employee entitlements.
The ability to perform off-system payroll calculations and identify discrepancies.
Experience managing payroll compliance across end-to-end payroll processes.
Strong attention to detail, accuracy and numeracy skills.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Clear and professional communication skills with a customer-focused approach.
NZPPA certification (Level 3 or above) would be advantageous but not essential
Most importantly, you'll be someone who takes ownership, enjoys solving problems, embraces continuous improvement and isn't afraid to challenge the way things are done when there's a better approach.
