Mō tēnei tūranga | About the opportunity
This is a key leadership role within Corporate Finance, responsible for ensuring robust financial control, governance, compliance and reporting across Fonterra's Group Functions business unit. Reporting to the General Manager Group Financial Control, you'll partner closely with senior finance leaders, The Service Hub, and business stakeholders to safeguard financial integrity while supporting organisational performance and transformation initiatives.
You'll play an important role in strengthening financial controls, managing risk and compliance obligations, supporting audits, and driving continuous improvement across core finance processes. You'll also help embed a strong culture of accountability, governance and ethical financial management while supporting the continued evolution of our finance operating model.
A few areas of focus will be to:
Lead financial control activities across Group Functions, ensuring financial reporting is accurate, timely and compliant.
Strengthen and maintain robust internal controls, governance frameworks and risk management practices.
Partner with business leaders, Corporate Finance, FP&A and The Service Hub to deliver high-quality finance outcomes.
Lead audit engagements and maintain strong relationships with external auditors and regulatory bodies.
Provide technical accounting, compliance and regulatory guidance to key stakeholders.
Oversee the effective transition and ongoing management of outsourced finance services, ensuring service quality and control standards are maintained.
Identify control gaps, drive root cause analysis activities and implement continuous improvement initiatives across finance processes.
Champion a culture of integrity, compliance, risk awareness and operational excellence.
Mōu | About you
You're a technically strong finance leader with deep expertise in financial control, governance and financial accounting. You bring the confidence to influence senior stakeholders, challenge constructively where required, and navigate complexity while maintaining a strong focus on quality and compliance.
The ideal candidate will have:
CA, CPA or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
Significant experience in financial control, financial reporting or financial governance environments.
Strong knowledge of IFRS, technical accounting standards, financial compliance and risk management frameworks.
Experience working across complex organisations and partnering with a broad range of stakeholders.
Proven capability leading audit activities, strengthening controls and improving financial processes.
Strong commercial judgement, communication skills and the ability to translate technical requirements into practical business outcomes.
Experience working with outsourced service providers or shared service environments would be highly valued.
Exposure to SAP S/4HANA, BlackLine, HFM or similar finance systems would be advantageous
