Farm Source is the connection point between Fonterra and our farmer owners, supporting farming businesses and rural communities across New Zealand.
Our Farm Source Finance team provides the commercial insight, constructive challenge and decision support needed to strengthen performance and enable better business decisions.
Mō tēnei tūranga | About the opportunity
We have two exciting Finance Business Partner opportunities within our Farm Source team:
Retail Portfolio: Partnering with our retail business to support commercial performance, profitability, pricing, revenue and cost decisions.
Sustainability and Farmer Partnering Portfolio: Providing financial insight and decision support across sustainability initiatives and the way we partner with and support our farmers.In either role, you’ll build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders and translate complex financial information into clear, actionable commercial insights. You’ll act as a strategic sounding board, bringing financial rigour to planning and investment decisions while constructively challenging thinking to deliver stronger outcomes.
You’ll monitor performance against financial targets, provide both historical and forward-looking insights, and help identify opportunities and risks through data-driven analysis.
A few key areas of focus will be to:
Partner with business leaders to support strategic, operational and commercial decision-making.
Translate financial and operational data into clear insights, recommendations and compelling stories.
Lead budgeting, forecasting and planning activities, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities.
Analyse performance, profitability, pricing, revenue, costs and investment opportunities.
Provide commercial challenge and coaching to strengthen the quality of business decisions.
Facilitate robust financial discussions and stakeholder meetings for key commercial decisions and planning.
Lead strategic analysis, scenario modelling, investment appraisal and profit improvement initiatives.
Collaborate across Finance, including with the Service Hub, Corporate Finance and Group FP&A, to improve processes, reporting and decision support.

You’re a commercially minded finance professional who enjoys working alongside the business and turning financial information into meaningful action.
You’ll bring curiosity, resilience and the confidence to respectfully challenge established thinking. Just as importantly, you’ll build strong relationships and bring others with you through change and continuous improvement.
The ideal candidate will have:
An undergraduate qualification in Finance, Economics, Accounting or a related discipline.
At least six years’ experience in finance or a related field, with strong cross-functional analytical capability.
Proven experience partnering with senior stakeholders and providing commercial advice.
Strong commercial acumen and an understanding of budgeting, forecasting and reporting.
Experience with financial modelling, scenario analysis and data-driven problem-solving.
The ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to financial and non-financial audiences.
Strong influencing, coaching, negotiation and relationship-management skills.
Confidence navigating ambiguity, balancing competing priorities and delivering to tight timeframes.
Experience with finance systems and technology such as Power BI, SAC or ERP platforms.
A proactive approach, personal accountability and a genuine continuous-improvement mindset.
Experience in retail, agribusiness, sustainability or farmer-facing environments would be valuable, but your ability to build credibility, understand the business and provide practical commercial insight will be most important
