About the role

Spark helps all of New Zealand win big in a digital world. As New Zealand's leading telecommunications company, we connect millions of New Zealanders and support thousands of businesses through our mobile, broadband, IT and cloud solutions.

At the heart of our strategy, SPK-30, is our ambition: It’s better with Spark. Whether it’s our network performance, customer experiences, or the workplace culture we create with our people, we want it to be better with Spark.

Our industry moves at pace, and so do we. Technology, customer expectations and business needs are constantly evolving. We embrace change, work together to solve problems that matter and focus on creating better outcomes for our customers, communities and Aotearoa. Our people are empowered to take ownership, keep learning and make a real impact.

About the Role:

Spark Tax is seeking an experienced and commercially minded tax professional to join our Wellington-based team. Working as part of a close-knit team, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality tax outcomes across the Spark Group.
This role provides exposure to the full tax value chain, from supporting business decisions and commercial initiatives, through to tax reporting, governance and compliance delivery. You'll gain broad experience across direct and indirect taxes, tax accounting, risk management, business partnering and strategic projects while working closely with stakeholders across Finance, Legal and the wider business.
Day to day you will be involved in:
Supporting domestic and international tax obligations across the Spark Group.
Advising on commercial initiatives, transactions and technical tax matters.
Supporting tax accounting, financial reporting and governance activities.
Contributing to tax risk management and engagement with tax authorities.
Improving tax processes, controls, data and automation.
What experience you'll bring?
You’ll be a tax professional with at least 3 years' experience and a solid grounding in New Zealand tax.  You'll combine strong technical capability with commercial curiosity and enjoy solving complex problems in a practical way. You'll have the confidence to move comfortably between technical detail and practical decision making, taking ownership of outcomes and working across multiple deliverables without losing momentum.
You'll bring strong attention to detail, an interest in the data, processes and systems that underpin tax outcomes, and a desire to continually broaden your experience across a diverse range of tax matters.
