At Fonterra Te Mātāpuna, we want everyone to feel they can be themselves.

Whether you're early in your career or ready for your next step, Fonterra offers a unique opportunity to grow with a global dairy co-operative that values care, collaboration, and contribution.

Owned by New Zealand dairy farmers and supported by a dedicated team, we are all working together to create a better future. Imagine tomorrow with us, where your career can grow, and you can create positive change.

Mō tēnei tūranga | About the opportunity
We’re looking for a hands-on Tax Accounting Manager to join Fonterra’s Group Tax team.  Reporting to the GM Group Tax, you’ll take ownership of accurate, well-supported and audit-ready tax reporting across a large and complex multinational business.

Applying your technical expertise to real business outcomes, you will review and own the preparation of the tax accounting positions Fonterra takes, support forecasting and budgeting, and partner closely with Group Finance and external auditors.  You’ll also help shape how the work is delivered by identifying smarter ways of working and driving improvements through process optimisation, technology and AI.

Key areas of focus include:

Preparing and reviewing current and deferred tax calculations, tax journals and supporting reconciliations.
Delivering month-end and year-end tax accounting activities in line with Group Finance reporting requirements.
Providing analysis and insights on movements in tax balances, identifying risks and key drivers.
Leading the preparation of tax forecasts and budgets while supporting wider planning cycles.
Acting as a key contact for external auditors, responding to audit queries and providing supporting documentation.
Supporting New Zealand indirect tax compliance activities including GST, FBT, NRWT and AIL obligations.
Supporting other members of the Group tax team on a range of activities as required such as transfer pricing and BEPs compliance.
Driving process improvements and exploring opportunities to leverage technology and AI to enhance tax processes.

Mōu | About you
You're a technically strong tax professional who enjoys working in a complex environment where accuracy, insight and sound judgement matter.

You bring a strong foundation in tax accounting and financial reporting, with the ability to navigate technical challenges, analyse complex information and deliver high-quality outcomes.  Comfortable working across multiple priorities, you're equally at ease working through detailed accounting positions as you are partnering with stakeholders to explain impacts and provide clarity.

Ideally, you'll bring:

A tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Tax or a related discipline.
CAANZ membership, or membership of an equivalent professional body, would be advantageous.
Strong tax accounting experience gained within a large corporate, multinational organisation or professional services environment.
Deep understanding of tax accounting under IFRS and financial reporting requirements.
Knowledge of New Zealand corporate tax and indirect tax obligations.
Experience preparing and analysing tax balances, deferred tax calculations, forecasts and budgets.
Strong analytical, reconciliation and documentation skills.
Advanced Excel capability and experience working with ERP or financial reporting systems such as SAP.
The ability to build effective relationships across finance teams, external advisors and auditors.
A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
