As New Zealand's largest telecommunications and digital services company, Spark's purpose is to help all of New Zealand win big in a digital world. We provide mobile, broadband, and digital services to millions of New Zealanders and thousands of New Zealand businesses.
We operate in an exciting and constantly evolving industry, where the pace of change brings new and unique challenges every day, so we operate using an agile mindset to allow us to meet the fast-changing needs of our customers. Agile ways of working replace the traditional hierarchical organisational structure to produce a transparent, collaborative environment, with highly productive teams empowered to deliver better outcomes for our customers, communities, and all of New Zealand.
About the Role:
We are looking for someone that will run our Networking professional services consulting practice. You will need to know how to develop and deliver consulting services, lead a team of consultants that advise, architect, design and implement customer network solutions.
The Practice Lead – Network Consulting is responsible for driving our professional services network and connectivity capability within the Enterprise Projects & Consulting team. This is a leadership role for an energetic consulting practitioner who leads by example, with a strong strategic and customer-centric mindset.
You will have a clear vision of what a successful network consulting practice looks like, and how to execute change according to your vision. Technically, you will have a deep knowledge of enterprise network architecture, connectivity, security, and how we can effectively shape this domain into market leading propositions and pathways to our managed services. This includes technical and business consulting engagements, aligned to network and connectivity solutions. While driving the practice, you will perform some billable work, so having a strong technical background is important.
By necessity, this role requires someone who is very comfortable being in front of customers, and who is capable of accurately determining and articulating client outcomes to shape Spark’s propositions. Accordingly, you will have a high degree of commercial acumen and be comfortable to create certainty and clarity within complex and occasionally challenging environments.
While driving the practice, you will bring an eye for identifying and growing talent within the existing team and utilising your own network.
Day to day you will be involved in:
Managing a set of Network & Security Consultants across Auckland, Wellington & Christchurch.
Coaching and develop the team’s craft and capabilities, and act in a 'hands on' practice lead and mentor.
Managing the team’s capacity to meet customer and operational demands to meet KPIs, while optimising the P&L.
Shaping the workforce for future demand.
Working closely with the Sales teams to develop and pitch industry leading networking & connectivity consulting propositions.
Providing expert strategic insights to the Connectivity and Security product teams.
Developing and maintaining influential relationships across a diverse set of stakeholders within the Spark Group, and industry.
Providing input to, and sometimes leading, technical responses to presales opportunities, including RFIs and RFQs.
Defining scope and estimation of effort for professional services deliverables with statements of work.
What experience you'll bring?
Proven track record of successfully leading high-performance a networking and security technical or consulting team.
Extensive background in consulting through a collaborative leadership style.
Strong relationship building, influencing, internal and external stakeholder management.
Established track record of implementing and leading improvements within organisations.
Driven continuous improvement initiatives and sustainable efficiencies within a professional services environment.
Demonstrated financial and commercial capabilities within a professional services environment.
Customer centric, people-focused style of management, with strong communication skills and comfort engaging across a wide range of technical domains.
Systems thinking, proactive approach to problem solving, bringing clarity and solutions to challenges that have a high degree of ambiguity and uncertainty.
This is your opportunity to lead from the front, develop top-tier networking talent, and be the cornerstone of how Spark delivers networking at scale. Let’s build what’s next – together.
