About the role
E pā ana ki a SkyCity | About SkyCity
At SkyCity, we're all about creating memorable experiences for our customers but it's not just our people who help bring our spaces to life. Across our precinct hundreds of plants help create welcoming, vibrant environments for our guests and team members every day.
We're looking for a part-time Plantscape Technician to join our Facility Services team and become the person behind some of the best-looking greenery in Auckland. If you're someone who loves plants, takes pride in seeing them thrive, and enjoys working independently, this could be the perfect role for you.
Mō te Tūranga | About the Role
As our Plantscape Technician you'll be responsible for maintaining healthy, attractive indoor plants across multiple locations throughout the SkyCity Auckland precinct, including our main site, Horizon Hotel, NZICC and Federal House.
No two days are quite the same. One moment you could be watering and tending to lush feature plants in a public space, the next you're troubleshooting a plant that's having a tough week or helping prepare displays for a special event. You'll have ownership of your work, managing plant care schedules across multiple locations and ensuring every plant is looking its best.
Key responsibilities include:
Maintaining the health and presentation of indoor plants across multiple sites
Watering, feeding, misting, pruning and re-potting plants as required
Proactively identifying and treating pests, diseases and plant health issues
Maintaining plant care schedules and treatment records
Monitoring stock levels and ordering plant care supplies
Recommending plant replacements and improvements where required
Assisting with seasonal and event displays
Ensuring safe work practices and maintaining tidy work areas at all times

The ability to identify early signs of pests, disease and plant stress
A proactive and self-motivated approach to work
The ability to work independently and manage your own schedule across multiple sites
Strong attention to detail and pride in delivering high standards
Confidence taking ownership of plant health outcomes and knowing when to seek support
Good physical fitness, including the ability to lift up to 10kg and safely use a step ladder
Strong organisational and communication skills
