Are you ready to make a significant impact on a transformative project? Fletcher Construction is seeking a Permit & Utilities Coordinator to join our team for Te Wai Takamori o Te Awa Kairangi (Te Awa Kairangi).
About the Role
In this role you will be focused on coordinating permits, work authorisations, utility clearances and stakeholder approvals to ensure works can proceed safely, compliantly and efficiently. Working closely with construction teams, subcontractors, utility providers, local authorities and project stakeholders, you'll help keep the project moving by ensuring all required approvals, documentation and controls are in place before work begins.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in utilities, civil construction, local government, permit administration or site supervision who is looking to apply their practical knowledge in a coordination focused role.
Maintain permit registers, tracking systems and project documentation.
Coordinate and manage permits, approvals and work authorisations for project activities.
Review planned works and confirm all permit requirements, clearances and approvals are in place before work commences.
Liaise with utility owners, service authorities, councils and other stakeholders to secure approvals and resolve permit-related issues.
Coordinate utility clearances, service isolations and access requirements.
Conduct site visits to confirm compliance with permit conditions and project requirements.
Support construction teams by identifying risks, constraints and approval requirements before works begin.
Work closely with project delivery, health and safety, subcontractor and stakeholder teams to ensure work is completed safely and efficiently.
What you’ll bring to the role
Experience coordinating permits, utility approvals, work authorisations, corridor access requests, service isolations or similar activities.
Ability to read and interpret plans, drawings and asset information.
Experience within civil construction, infrastructure, transport, utilities, water, power, telecommunications, local government or related industries.
Strong understanding of health and safety requirements, risk assessment and permit-to-work processes.
Excellent planning, organisation and stakeholder management skills.
Strong administration skills and experience maintaining permit registers, trackers and compliance records.
Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills and confidence working with project systems and reporting tools.
Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships across site teams, contractors, utility providers and regulatory authorities.

Te Awa Kairangi Alliance is delivering transport, walking and cycling improvements to the SH2 Melling interchange and rail station, as part of a wider flood protection and city revitalisation programme. Fletcher Construction is working with Alliance partners AECOM, NZTA, Taranaki Whānui and Ngāti Toa Rangatira to deliver this transformative project.
