About the role
Higgins is looking for an experienced Operations Supervisor to join our Hawke's Bay Maintenance team and help deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality maintenance outcomes across the network.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, you'll lead the day-to-day delivery of cyclic, reactive, winter, and emergency maintenance activities, providing leadership to Supervisors, crews, and subcontractors. You'll play a critical role in coordinating operational resources, driving performance, promoting a strong safety culture, and ensuring works are delivered to contract requirements and client expectations.
What you'll be doing
Leading construction and maintenance teams in the delivery of cyclic, reactive, winter and emergency maintenance works
Coordinating labour, plant, equipment, and subcontractor resources to achieve programme objectives
Monitoring daily operational performance and resolving delivery issues, risks, and constraints
Supporting maintenance planning and ensuring operational readiness across the network
Maintaining strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, inspectors, and subcontractors
Providing leadership during incidents and emergency response activities
Promoting a strong health, safety, environmental and quality culture across the team
Driving continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives
What you'll bring
5+ years' experience supervising and delivering maintenance operations
Proven leadership experience managing operational teams and subcontractors
Strong understanding of road maintenance activities, including cyclic, reactive, and emergency works
Experience with RAMM/AWM and other client-mandated systems
Strong communication, organisational and stakeholder management skills
Ability to identify risks, solve problems and make sound operational decisions
Demonstrated commitment to health and safety leadership
Full Class 1 driver's licence
