About the role
Build a safer, more connected future
For more than 160 years, Winstone Aggregates has helped build New Zealand, supplying the materials and transport solutions that support our roads, homes and communities.
We’re looking for a collaborative and commercially capable Transport Manager to lead our Northland operation. You’ll create an environment where people feel supported to contribute, develop and succeed, while delivering safe, reliable and sustainable outcomes for our customers.
Reporting to the Head of Transport, you’ll guide approximately 15 direct and indirect team members, including the Transport Supervisor and driving team, while maintaining effective relationships with subcontractors and operational partners.
What we offer
A supportive team environment built around safety and collaboration
Opportunities for learning, development and career progression
Fuel discounts and a range of employee and retailer offers
The opportunity to make a visible impact across Northland
The support and scale of the wider Fletcher Building group
What you’ll be doing
Lead a safe, inclusive and customer-focused transport operation
Coach and develop the Transport Supervisor and driving team
Ensure fleet capacity meets customer demand and service expectations
Improve fleet utilisation, productivity, service, cost and profitability
Manage budgets and key costs, including fuel, wages and maintenance
Maintain fleet, driver, subcontractor and regulatory compliance
Build trusted relationships across dispatch, sales and quarry operations
Use operational insights to identify practical, sustainable improvements
What you’ll bring
Three to five years’ transport or logistics management experience
A thoughtful, inclusive and supportive leadership approach
Strong commercial, budgeting and cost-management capability
Knowledge of transport legislation, fleet compliance and safety
Experience working with drivers, contractors and maintenance providers
Clear communication, coaching and relationship-building skills
Confidence using operational information to guide decisions
If you’re ready to support a capable team and shape safer, smarter transport across Northland, we’d value hearing from you.
Research shows that females and minority groups don’t apply for roles unless they match 100% the job description.
We are proud of your diversity and see it as one of the things that make us stronger. We welcome your individuality and encourage you to bring your true self to work, so if this role is of interest but you feel you don’t fit it, we would still love you to apply.
