About the role

Start your career somewhere you can get stuck in
We’re looking for a graduate to join our team based at Hunua Quarry

If you’ve recently finished a degree in Mechanical Engineering or Process, and you’re keen to get out on site and build some real-world experience, this could be a great place to start.

Quarrying is a lot more technical than you might think. There’s large-scale machinery, complex processing equipment, geology, quality, environmental management and plenty of engineering problems to solve.

You won’t be sitting on the sidelines either. You’ll work alongside experienced people and get involved in real projects from the start.

What you could be doing
Depending on your background, you’ll get involved in things like:
Mechanical engineering projects and equipment improvements
Improving how our crushing, screening and washing processes perform
Looking at equipment and process data to find better ways of doing things
Troubleshooting problems alongside our operational teams
Geological mapping, sampling and resource planning
Working with our laboratory and quality teams
Supporting safety, environmental and continuous improvement projects

What we're looking for
You’ll have recently completed, or be close to completing, a relevant degree.

You don’t need to know everything about quarrying. We’ll teach you that.

What matters is that you’re curious, practical, happy to ask questions and keen to understand how things work.
You’ll be comfortable getting out from behind a desk and working with people across the operation.
Previous industry or summer work is useful, but it’s definitely not essential.

You'll join our two-year graduate development programme, gaining broad exposure to engineering, geology and quarry operations while learning from people who know the industry inside out.

It’s a chance to build your technical skills, get some solid experience behind you and work out where you want to take your career.
Research shows that females and minority groups don’t apply for roles unless they match 100% the job description.

We are proud of your diversity and see it as one of the things that make us stronger. We welcome your individuality and encourage you to bring your true self to work, so if this role is of interest but you feel you don’t fit it, we would still love you to apply.
