As part of Fletcher Building's Heavy Building Division, Humes supports the country's water, transport, telecommunications and rural sectors through a nationwide network of manufacturing and distribution sites.
We're looking for an experienced Maintenance Supervisor to lead maintenance operations at our Papakura manufacturing site, the largest in the Humes network.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll be responsible for ensuring our plant, equipment and facilities are safe, reliable and operating at their best to support production outcomes.
About the Role
Reporting to the Production Manager, you will own the maintenance function across the Papakura site, including plant and machinery, building services, infrastructure and environmental compliance requirements.
You'll work closely with Production, Quality and operational leaders to develop and execute maintenance strategies that minimise downtime, improve asset reliability and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading and developing the site's maintenance team
Planning, prioritising and coordinating preventative and reactive maintenance activities
Managing contractors and specialist service providers to ensure work is completed safely and to a high standard
Driving asset reliability and equipment performance across manufacturing operations
Supporting site compliance requirements, including health, safety and environmental standards
Contributing to capital projects from planning and design through to installation, commissioning and handover
Identifying and implementing improvement opportunities that enhance safety, efficiency, reliability and operational performance
Working collaboratively with production teams to optimise equipment availability and minimise disruption to manufacturing operations
Managing maintenance expenditure in line with approved operational and capital budgets
About You
We're looking for a practical and proactive maintenance leader who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and enjoys building strong relationships across operational teams.
You'll bring:
Proven experience in a maintenance leadership or supervisory role within manufacturing, industrial, processing or heavy industry environments
Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical plant maintenance practices
Experience leading maintenance teams, contractors and external service providers
Sound understanding of preventative maintenance systems and asset reliability principles
Experience managing maintenance shutdowns, site improvements and capital projects
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting capability
A commitment to health, safety and continuous improvement
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Trade qualifications, engineering qualifications or relevant maintenance certifications will be highly regarded
