We have an exciting opportunity for a Functional Lead to join BNZ’s Customer360 Domain and help shape how business outcomes are delivered through our nCino platform.

Working with the business and technology experts, you’ll provide expert functional leadership, guide solution direction, and ensure solutions align customer needs, business value, risk, and platform capabilities.

Mō te Tūranga | About the Role

You’ll lead the discovery and functional design of complex initiatives, translating business challenges into scalable, practical solutions.

Working closely with Product Owners, Engineering Leads, Architects, Delivery Leads, Functional Consultants, and business stakeholders, you’ll establish strong functional practices and support the delivery of high-quality outcomes.

This is a permanent, full-time opportunity based in Wellington or Auckland, with a hybrid working model.

What are five day-to-day tasks the person in this role will complete?

Lead Functional Delivery: Guide discovery, requirements, analysis, and functional solution design for complex initiatives.

Provide Platform Expertise: Help stakeholders maximise the nCino Bank Operating System capabilities using platform best practices.

Solve Complex Problems: Translate ambiguous business needs into clear, practical, and scalable solutions.

Manage Risk and Quality: Lead impact assessments and ensure requirements and solutions are complete, compliant, and fit for purpose.

Collaborate and Grow Capability: Align cross-functional teams while coaching Functional Consultants and Business Analysts.

You’ll navigate complex business needs, platform constraints, competing priorities, and regulatory requirements. Success requires strong judgement and the ability to create alignment while balancing immediate delivery with long-term platform sustainability.

What skills are required for this role?

Functional Leadership: Experience leading complex business and technology initiatives and influencing solution direction across multiple teams.

nCino and Salesforce Expertise: Strong knowledge of nCino and platform best practices. Highly desirable for you to have experience with Salesforce Financial Services Cloud.

Analysis and Solution Design: Expertise in discovery, requirements analysis, process design, impact assessment, and functional solution design.

Problem Solving: Ability to assess complex challenges, identify root causes, evaluate trade-offs, and recommend practical solutions.

Stakeholder Influence: Strong facilitation and communication skills, with the ability to build alignment across business and technology teams.

Risk and Quality Management: Experience ensuring solutions are compliant, fit for purpose, and deliver their intended outcomes.

Coaching and Mentoring: Experience developing Business Analysts and Functional Consultants and uplifting functional practices.

Experience: Typically 8–12+ years’ experience in Business Analysis, Functional Consulting, or similar roles delivering complex change.
