About the role
At Firth, we know great operations are built by great leaders.
With over 100 years of history and a nationwide network supporting New Zealand's construction, infrastructure and communities, Firth is one of the country's most trusted building materials businesses. As part of the Fletcher Building Group, we're proud of our people-first culture, strong values, and commitment to doing the right thing for our customers, teams and communities.
We're looking for an experienced customer savvy operational leader who thrives in fast-paced environments, loves developing capable teams, and knows how to bring people together around a common goal.
Whether your background is in logistics, transport, manufacturing, distribution or industrial operations, this is an opportunity to lead a complex regional operation where people leadership matters as much as commercial results.
Why this role?
You'll have the freedom to influence performance across multiple sites, build leadership capability within your teams, and create an environment where safety, service and collaboration drive success.
This isn't a desk-based operations role. It's a highly visible leadership position where you'll partner with customers, coach leaders, solve challenges and help shape the future of our Wellington business.
What you'll be responsible for
Leading and developing high-performing operational teams across the Wellington region
Creating a safe, inclusive and engaged workplace culture
Delivering strong financial, service and operational outcomes
Driving continuous improvement across production, logistics and customer service
Building strong relationships with customers, contractors and key stakeholders
Supporting change initiatives while keeping people informed, involved and supported
Ensuring operational excellence across safety, quality, compliance and fleet performance
What you'll bring
Senior leadership experience within logistics, transport, supply chain, manufacturing, construction materials or industrial operations
Experience leading geographically dispersed or multi-site teams
Strong commercial acumen with experience managing budgets, costs and performance
A collaborative leadership style that inspires trust, accountability and engagement
The ability to balance people, customers and commercial priorities
Excellent communication, coaching and relationship-building skills
A focus on developing talent and helping others succeed
What we offer
A business that genuinely invests in leadership development
Career opportunities across the wider Fletcher Building Group
Flexible working arrangements where appropriate
Employee education and welfare benefits
A supportive culture where diverse thinking is valued and encouraged
