Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
As our Events – Practice Manager, you will lead the Event Planning and Temporary Traffic Management teams to manage the planning and delivery of events across the Auckland Transport and NZTA upper north island transport networks to provide exceptional customer experiences and network outcomes, and oversee approval of temporary traffic management activity for events and filming in Auckland.
This position offers lots of variety where no two days are the same and there’s plenty of opportunity to shape the role and work with a wide range of people to make a positive difference every day.
An important and exciting role overseeing the planning of the IKEA and City Rail Link openings, ensuring successful delivery of all transport-related aspects of these projects.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Significant operational and management experience in major, large-scale events within a large complex organisation
- Proven people leadership capabilities with demonstrated success leading high performing teams
- A proven ability to develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders including the ability to influence effectively
- Experience planning and delivering transport services for events
- An understanding of the transport networks, relevant statutory requirements and bylaws, and temporary traffic management
- Ability to translate strategic concepts into plans, priorities and people leadership, setting direction and vision for the future

Appointment salary is from $145,000 - $160,000 per annum (pro rata to the fixed-term duration).

Based at Smales Farm ATOC is a 24/7 operation responsible for real-time monitoring of the network for both planned and unplanned events, ensuring the right responses are made in a timely manner to deliver safe journeys for our customers. Additionally, this centre is the eyes and ears of the urban and highway One Network, monitoring a total of over 11,000km of state highways, alongside the Wellington Transport Operation Centre (WTOC).
