The Data Strategy & Operational Products group plays an important role in how Insights connects with and influences the wider MSD. With a focus on developing products, and working closely with other insights teams, we share information with the frontline and other MSD groups in a way that makes data easy to understand and use. Our goal is to help make better decisions every day.

 

Te āhuatunga a te tūranga / About the role  


As the Manager of Operational Products and Support, you will be responsible for shaping and leading MSD’s data product strategy. You will understand how data can improve decision-making, especially in a frontline setting, and ensure that products are designed to support these operational needs.

In this role, you will also manage the team’s capacity and skills to meet both immediate and long-term goals. This includes managing resources, relationships, and processes to ensure quality and effective delivery of work.

About you 

 

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant field or equivalent operational experience.
  • Leadership experience, including the ability to develop culture and improve team skills and performance.
  • Excellent skills in motivating and leading teams.
  • Strong technical knowledge of IT systems, channels, and data structures.
  • Proven track record of delivering products that meet client needs, particularly in social services.
  • Experience with complex multi-project programmes, using project management methodologies, or working in business change management, ideally within the public sector.
  • In-depth experience in business, market, and public sector data.
  • Ability to work in a changing environment, handle ambiguity, and deliver high-quality results on time and within budget.
  • Good understanding of the policy development process and parliamentary procedures.
  • Knowledge of policy implementation and potential challenges.
  • Ability to drive high-quality analysis and advice on complex issues within set timeframes.
  • Experience in promoting and leading change.
