We are looking for a Trainee Water Service Technician to join our Utilities Division based in Gisborne. Our water teams play a critical role in ensuring a continual supply of quality water with minimal interruptions to the community. In this role you will assist with the repair and maintenance of water reticulation networks, on a reactive and scheduled basis.
We are looking for someone who might be starting or part-way through their water industry qualifications, or if not, you will be willing to start on this pathway with us.
In addition to the above you will:
Install and repair water connections on all sizes of mains
Repairing and installing service pipes and leaking hydrants
Repairing meter connections or replacing meters when required and servicing all valves and hydrants
Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with trade practice
Flush and charge water mains

We’re looking for someone with:
Class 1 Full Drivers Licence
Experience in the water industry or the civil/construction industry is advantageous
A strong interest water industry and the opportunity to gain qualifications
Ideally you will be licensed and skilled at operating most plant and equipment
Ability to use hand tools and small plant
Self-motivation and friendly team player
You will need to be physically fit, health and safety focused
An understanding and commitment to health and safety in the workplace
