Job Description

This is a pivotal position where you will oversee safety protocols, validate financial transactions, and foster collaboration across teams and stakeholders. Your expertise will drive operational excellence across our fleet and hub activities, ensuring we not only meet but exceed industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

Safety and Compliance

  • Ensure all fleet and hub operations adhere to our rigorous safety standards, as well as industry and local compliance requirements.
  • Develop and implement robust safety protocols, fostering a culture of risk awareness and prevention.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections to identify and address potential risks.
  • Provide ongoing training to promote safe driving practices, reducing incidents and maintaining compliance.
  • Resolve fleet infringements promptly, ensuring accountability and adherence to safety procedures.
  • Oversee vehicle maintenance schedules to ensure safety standards are upheld and downtime is minimised.

Financial Oversight and Invoice Validation

  • Validate invoices from fleet providers, 3PL partners, and fulfilment services, ensuring accuracy and alignment with agreed contracts.
  • Work closely with the Finance Controller to track budgets, monitor costs, and uncover opportunities for savings.
  • Present detailed monthly reports on fleet expenses, maintenance costs, and operational performance.
  • Conduct cost analyses to enhance productivity while maintaining high-quality standards.

Fleet Management

  • Collaborate with fleet providers to ensure vehicle availability, optimum utilisation, and timely maintenance.
  • Monitor and analyse fleet performance metrics, driving improvements in efficiency and compliance.
  • Oversee fuel consumption tracking and implement strategies to optimise usage and reduce costs.
  • Support procurement in managing fleet leasing, acquisitions, and contract renewals, ensuring alignment with business needs.

Hub Operations Support

  • Work in partnership with Distribution Centre (DC) and Hub Managers to address operational challenges and deliver seamless logistics.
  • Develop and implement standardised processes to enhance efficiency across hubs and distribution centres.
  • Act as the primary contact for store managers, ensuring effective communication and swift resolution of operational issues.
  • Ensure accurate and timely coordination of inventory and deliveries between hubs and stores.

Training and Upskilling

  • Deliver comprehensive driving training sessions, focusing on safety, fuel efficiency, and vehicle handling in various conditions.
  • Provide technical training on vehicle equipment installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Continuously upskill hub personnel in safety practices and operational protocols.
  • Lead knowledge-sharing sessions to reinforce safety standards and introduce updates on fleet technology and processes.
  • Identify skill gaps and deliver targeted training to ensure team proficiency in all aspects of fleet operations.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Build strong relationships with internal teams to align fleet and logistics operations with broader business objectives.
  • Partner with external stakeholders, including fleet providers and 3PL account managers, to maintain service excellence and drive continuous improvement.
