We are seeking a highly motivated pharmacist to join our friendly team at either Dunedin or Invercargill Hospital.
Mō te tūranga | About the role
The Hospital Pharmacy services at both Dunedin and Invercargill Hospital provides a full clinical and operational service, and we have a full Aseptic Production Unit at Dunedin Hospital. We provide a wide range of clinical services encompassing both generalist and specialist skills.
We are looking for someone to join our team in a new fixed term Mental Health pharmacist role. There will be an element of scoping what this additional resource can provide to the Mental Health, Addiction & Intellectual Disability Service (MHAIDS) team as well as to the pharmacy department but it is envisaged the role will enhance the existing clinical pharmacy service across the district. The role will work closely with the Medical Director, Nurse Director and the Pharmacy Manager as well as the existing Pharmacy service into our Mental Health Service at both the Dunedin and Invercargill sites to lead the ongoing development of a robust clinical pharmacy service within Mental Health.
The Mental Health Service in the Southern district provides care across a range of patients (forensic units, community teams and inpatient care).
The Mental Health Pharmacist will work as part of the Multidisciplinary team (MDT) and act as a role model and provide support, advice and education to healthcare professionals within the mental health service as well as to pharmacy staff within the pharmacy department. This role will play a key part in the establishment of a MHAIDS Medicines Advisory and Safety Group and provides expert advice on relevant medicines related policies and procedures across Southern region.

Alongside your clinical expertise, our ideal candidate will also be an excellent communicator with a high level of integrity and interpersonal skills.
Some of the skills we are looking for are include (but are not limited to):
- It is essential that you are Registered as a Pharmacist with the Pharmacy Council of New Zealand under the provisions of the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003 and hold a current annual practicing certificate.
- B.Pharm or other recognised pharmacy qualification
- Previous experience working in hospital pharmacy and/or a mental health clinical setting
- Postgraduate qualification in Mental Health
- Proven ability building successful working relationships with those around you, the ability to work independently or within a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Pharmacist Prescriber qualification (or working towards) in a relevant MH scope.
- confidence with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth

Utu whānui |Salary range
This role belongs to the APEX Pharmacy Workers Collective agreement and falls between the Step 2 ($76,442 p.a) and Step 7 ($100,466 p.a pro-rata)
