Energise your career
If you like the idea of working on projects that make a fundamental difference to the lives of people in your community, then perhaps you should think about a role at Vector.
So much of what we take for granted in our everyday lives is enabled by the work that Vector is doing to ensure our infrastructure is fit for purpose for a rapidly changing future.
Across our network we are transforming the way that Auckland's critical infrastructure is delivered through high-tech data-led solutions and customer first thinking. It's a dynamic, energising place to work because what you do here matters to everyone.
About the role
Auckland's electricity network continues to grow at a rapid rate to support our thriving city. Vector’s Operational Technology (OT) network grows along with it, with more devices in the field bringing in more data, and using it in more innovative ways. We have an exciting opportunity for an engineer to help design, build, monitor, and maintain the Operational Technology network!
The OT Engineering team work closely with the Control Systems and the Protection and Control teams, to maintain a continuous data flow from assets in the field to the control room. We rectify communication system and field automation faults and, where required, coordinate field service providers and specialist third parties.
We develop the strategic direction of the OT environment for Vector Electricity, including development of strategies, standards and business cases for the life cycle management of OT assets including substation routers, ethernet switches, cellular routers, digital radio, RTU, PLC, battery systems and a wide variety of IIoT devices. This includes research, trial and evaluating new communication and automation technologies for the OT network.
We are responsible for monitoring the performance of, and threats to, the operational technology systems of the electricity business, and work closely with Vector Digital, Vector Fibre and our cyber teams to resolve issues and drive continuous improvement.
We provide engineering design, integration and commissioning services for Vector projects that require integration to the OT network.
