We have an exciting opportunity for a Paving/Surfacing Engineer to join our Paving team based in Central Otago. You will be responsible for managing and delivering on paving and surfacing operations around the region, ensuring the profitable, compliant and efficient delivery of the works.

In addition to the above you will:

• Pre-commencement site handovers and pre-checks (site handover forms and string line records) in conjunction with Foreman

• Asphalt Laying QA recording (on site temp records and trace sheets)

• H&S management of the paving team

• Ensuring Contract QA requirements are met – Pre-Planning Lay Plans for client and foreman, mix design approval, submitting QA records.

We’re looking for someone with:

• Relevant contracting experience- Ideally within a paving/ surfacing team in a contracting environment

• Holds relevant tertiary qualification (minimum Diploma in Civil Engineering or equivalent)

• Highly motivated and driven as you will be part of a large, enthusiastic collaborative team delivering these projects

• Demonstrated commitment to Health and Safety, in line with our ‘Living Safely’ principles

• Competent users of Word, Excel and Project

• Understanding of job pricing including materials, labour and plant and associated margin / profit calculations

• Ideally you are familiar with NZS 3910

• Strong organisational and communication skills with the ability to manage great relationships with the team, clients and stakeholders

• Strong financial acumen
