NEP New Zealand is currently looking for a Multi Skilled Operator to be based within our Operations team at our Parnell studio facility.

The Position

While the focus of this Multi Skilled Operator role will initially be Media, training across Audio Mixing, Vision Switching and Technical Directing will also be available to the successful applicant.

Key Responsibilities, but not limited to:

Media -

  • Be responsible for recording, ingest, copying, replaying and editing highlights from multiple sources within either live production or post-production environments.
  • Cue and prepare video inserts including programs, promotions and commercials.
  • Transfer media from format to format where required.
  • Setup and operate equipment to record and playback footage.

Audio –

  • Operate the Audio Mixer, setup Microphones and other audio equipment.
  • Traktor music and audio clip playback.
  • Comms / Telephone Hybrid.
  • Set up studio talkback boxes and foldbacks.
  • Route feeds with Wheatstone audio matrix.

Vision -

  • Vision Switching including live camera cutting.
  • Operate/build various DVEs and Macros.
  • Set up studio cameras and foldback monitors.
  • Operate remote control cameras.
  • Operate lighting controller.
  • Use media clip playback software.

Required Skills and Attributes:

  • Have a good knowledge of TV Production equipment, and live TV Production workflows.
  • Be able to act as a vital link in the production team, assisting directors and producers and be involved in all stages of the production process to ensure productions run smoothly.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a "live to air" environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to work effectively and reliable as part of the team.
  • Flexibility with rostered shift work including weekends, public holidays and evenings.
  • Additional skills in the following areas would be advantageous:
  • Knowledge of Vision Switching, and using Vision Switchers in live production environments.
  • Knowledge of Sound Recording, Mixing and Post Production.
  • Operating Audio Mixers and other Audio equipment.
  • Have an understanding of Camera and Lighting technology.
