What you’ll do

 

Our Financial Accountant (Assets) is a key role in the KiwiRail Financial Accounting team based in Wellington.  You’ll be primarily responsible for completing asset accounting related transactions and associated tasks as KiwiRail continues its significant capital investment programme.

 

Taking a relationship focus to the role is vital as you’ll be working closely with relevant stakeholders to ensure the integrity and accuracy of critical financial information is met.  Your financial advice will be independent, professional and proactively targeted to risks and opportunities.

 

Key responsibilities include:

 

  • Maintaining asset sub-ledgers
  • Ensuring timely capitalisation of work in progress and working closely with Project Accountants and the business
  • Assisting in annual revaluation processes and reporting
  • Contributing to valuation report reviews ensuring they are fit for purpose
  • Contributing to preparation of asset related notes for Group financial reporting
  • Liaising with external auditors during the annual audit process

 

What you’ll need

 

  • Three to five years’ working experience in a financial accounting function, ideally within a large, complex environment
  • A sound understanding of financial processes, reporting requirements and NZ IFRS and/or PBE IPSAS
  • A Commerce Degree and CAANZ CA qualification

 

You’ll bring your excellent communication skills and continuous improvement mindset to this busy and challenging role.  You’ll enjoy being part of a high energy team as well as being someone who can work independently.
