Are you passionate about bringing the highest level of rigour and innovation to the policy, strategic and analytical challenges faced by New Zealand’s economy?  An exciting opportunity has arisen for a new Manager/ Associate Director to join our Deloitte Access Economics team.  You will work on a range of exciting, thought-provoking and high-profile projects across a range of areas including macroeconomics, infrastructure, regulation, competition analysis, workforce, climate change and public policy across both public and private sectors.   Based in Tāmaki-makau-rau/Auckland you will work within a team of economists, including experienced Analysts, Managers, Associate Directors, Directors and Partners.  
Your typical day will include: • Managing economics across a broad range of sectors by working closely with clients, with the support of other Deloitte team members.• Guiding and undertaking quantitative data methods and analysis including statistical analysis and data visualisation, as well as economic analysis (e.g., cost benefit analysis, forecasting, scenario modelling, computable general equilibrium modelling and demographic modelling). • Guiding and undertaking qualitative data methods and analysis (e.g., literature reviews, stakeholder interviews, focus groups and workshops). • Drafting and communicating findings in reports and compelling presentations. • Coaching and mentoring analysts and senior analysts to support the delivery of engagements and play a key role in their development. • Working with our local and global world class subject matter experts. • Presenting internally and externally to clients and conferences.• Working in a flexible working environment and bringing economic logic to solve complex problems.

You are someone with: We’re looking for motivated and engaged individual with a passion to make an impact. You will ideally have 5+ years of experience in economics and economic modelling. Specifically, you will have:  • A postgraduate degree in economics, and/or statistics with strong academic results • Previous experience in a consulting environment • Demonstrated understanding of the New Zealand economy • Applied knowledge of economic modelling, including developing and using quantitative analytical frameworks using economic principles • Ideally experience with one or more of the following tools such as R, Eviews and Stata • Demonstrated passion for making an impact in economics • Persuasive communication and report writing skills • Managing projects and teams effectively, as well as engaging with stakeholders.
