We are on the lookout for highly skilled, commercially savvy and strategic Category Managers that will manage key suppliers and categories across different facets of our business operations. We have a role each available in our Direct and Indirect Global Procurement teams. Direct Procurement is related to parts and materials sourced for production and customer facing products and Indirect Procurement categories involve goods, services and materials not used in manufacturing.

Both roles are pivotal to our ongoing success and offer the chance to shape key areas of our procurement, supply chain and business strategy. These two roles are based in Auckland, we are open to candidates from Dunedin for the Direct Category Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops, leads, implements and maintains visible Category and Sourcing strategies aligned to business requirements.

  • Leads and manages Supplier relationships that are aligned with business goals, creating value and optimising cost.

  • Collaborates with Mid/Senior Level stakeholders to provide commercial support and the best value supplier solution.

  • Stays current on supplier technology, industry best practice and market trends to drive innovation, optimize the supply base and deliver cost efficiencies.

  • Monitor and report on key category performance metrics, including cost, resilience, quality, and supplier delivery metrics, identifying areas for improvement

  • Conduct category benchmarking exercises and should be costing scenarios and present opportunities and to senior leaders.

  • Comfortable challenging the status quo and influencing change across business units to deliver value for the organisation

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience in category management, procurement, or a related role, preferably within a manufacturing environment.

  • Strong and proven negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.

  • Experience working with cross-functional teams, including product development and marketing.

  • Analytical and strategic thinker, able to drive cost savings and efficiency improvements.

  • Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Procurement, Supply Chain, or a related field is desirable.
