Retail Systems Tester

Location: Hybrid / Newbury
Salary: Excellent basic salary plus bonus and Vodafone benefits
Working Hours: Full time 37.5 hours per week – Mon to Fri 
(Availability for Out-Of-Hours (Overnight) Support, which includes both Planned and Ad-hoc requests, typically representing around 15% of your overall weekly working hours.)

What you’ll do

The role of an Assisted Channel Tester is to verify that any new services, products, system updates, or releases intended for the retail or indirect channel are operational and suitable for their intended use prior to a comprehensive production launch. Following the release, they are also tasked with conducting Deployment Validation Testing and providing initial support for the products during their early lifecycle.
 
User Acceptance Testing is the procedure through which the business confirms that its requirements have been accurately implemented within the developed system, ensuring that it is 'fit for purpose' before being deployed in a live environment. This process also aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the new system's impact on the retail operations.
 
The responsibilities of the role include:
 
 

  • Evaluate and improve testing scripts to ensure comprehensive testing of all components within the end-user systems, allowing for approval prior to their deployment in the production environment.
  • Follow established test scripts and document any risks and issues that arise. Act as a liaison in the feedback process for both Direct and Indirect Channels, as well as Test Leads.
  • Aid in the communication and management of Business Change, Training, and Retail readiness.
  • Provide support during deployment once releases are operational, ensuring that any defects identified during the Early Life Support (ELS) phase post-release are promptly re-tested and resolved.
  • Facilitate customer journey testing (CJT) for any new functionalities or hardware being introduced.
  • Conduct and assist with Deployment Validation Testing (DVT) for both regression and progression of new code to ensure effective operation of direct and indirect channels.
  • Offer Early Life Support as subject matter experts to other support teams regarding modifications to IT systems, software, or hardware within the estate.
  • Deliver initial support for any production issues and escalate them to the appropriate teams for resolution.
     

Who you are  

To achieve success in this position, you will :-
 

  • Oversee relationships with external IT support teams to ensure timely resolution of defects and mitigation of risks and issues. 
  • Participate in project meetings to ensure comprehension of changes and identification of risks and issues. 
  •  Attend various Vodafone locations as necessary for collaborative efforts. 
  • Regularly assess internal processes to enhance operational effectiveness. • Assist in the development of clear capacity plans and a roadmap for changes.
  • Acquire a comprehensive understanding of Retail systems and the functionality of indirect systems, along with the changes they introduce. 
  • Agree upon and facilitate training requirements for process or system modifications within the retail environment. 
  • Generate and maintain reports as needed regarding testing progress and team capacity. • Demonstrate strong planning and organizational skills. 
  • Possess a solid understanding of Newco Systems (Halo, Jack (Stock Management), Jill, PEDs, BO, CO). • Exhibit proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications. 

 

Desirable but not mandatory:
•    Experience in Vodafone Retail or similar customer-facing roles. 
•    Experience in analyzing business processes within large organizations. 
•    Background in service delivery and process improvement.
