About the Role (your why)  

 

The Site Reliability Engineer | Platform Management (BigFix) role is responsible for providing technical support, maintenance, and management of the BigFix platform for endpoint management across the organization. This role involves ensuring the platform’s smooth operation, resolving issues, applying updates and patches, and supporting end-users in leveraging BigFix for software distribution, patch management, security compliance, and asset management.

 

What you’ll do   

 

Platform Administration:

  • Manage and support the BigFix infrastructure, ensuring availability, performance, and security.
  • Perform platform upgrades, patching, and routine maintenance.
  • Manage endpoints (servers, desktops, laptops) within BigFix, ensuring effective deployment and compliance.

Support & Troubleshooting:

  • Provide Level 2/3 support for BigFix-related issues.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to endpoint management, patch failures, software distribution errors, and platform performance.
  • Collaborate with IT and support teams to identify root causes and implement long-term solutions.
  • Providing technical support and consultancy as required.

Patch & Software Management:

  • Oversee the deployment of patches and software updates across endpoints using BigFix.
  • Develop, test, and deploy custom fixlets, baselines, and tasks for various patching and software distribution requirements.
  • Ensure that patches and software updates are deployed in accordance with security policies and timelines.

Compliance & Reporting:

  • Monitor compliance with security standards and policies through BigFix reporting tools.
  • Generate and review reports on patching status, endpoint compliance, and software inventory.
  • Assist in audits by providing accurate reports and supporting data.

Automation & Scripting:

  • Create automation scripts and tasks in BigFix for repetitive tasks such as patch deployments, software distribution, and endpoint configuration.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to improve automation processes within the platform.

Documentation & Knowledge Sharing:

  • Maintain detailed documentation for processes, configurations, troubleshooting steps, and platform changes.
  • Train and support end-users and internal teams in using BigFix for software deployment and asset management.
  • Documenting and maintaining system and tools technology stacks, policy and standards.
  • Providing design and specification development support.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement:

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams (security, operations, network, and service desk) to integrate BigFix with other IT systems and improve operational workflows.
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest BigFix updates, patches, and best practices.
  • Identifying customer's needs and opportunities to help future growth and / or efficiencies.
  • Providing technical / product knowledge for salespeople, business, and support teams on customer accounts. Assisting in the design and development of new products and tools necessary to make customer accounts comfortable and successful at selling products.
  • Contributing to functional and technical elements of RFIs/RFPs, listen, understand and convey customer requirements.

What you’ll bring  

 

  • Proven knowledge and experience with delivery and deployment within varying Project methodologies & Governance Strong financial management practices with a clear understanding of the Business Operations, both professional and managed services.
  • 3+ years’ experience as a DevOps Engineer / Automation Specialist Experience using automation tools Experience with variety of programming and scripting languages relationship between costs, utilisation, and project revenue Strong business acumen.
  • Ability to manage complex issues of diverse scope where analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of a variety of factors, including an understanding of current business trends. Follows processes and operational policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
  • Establishes and assures adherence to budgets, schedules, work plans, and performance requirements.
  • Prevents erroneous decisions to avoid critical delay(s) in schedules and/or unit operations that may jeopardise overall business activities.
  • Ability to frequently interact and network with subordinates, supervisors and functional peer groups.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts and align them with client business goals and objectives.
  • Ability to work in large, collaborative teams and gain the cooperation of others.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
