He angitūtanga: The opportunity
Our Financial Strategy and Planning team has an opportunity for a Manager to join us in the financial data management space.
In this role you will help provide high-quality financial analysis, insight and advice for Auckland Council Group as well as supporting strategic planning and analysis.
You will ensure the Council’s financial systems, processes, data and models effectively and efficiently support well-informed decisions. This includes the department’s work on financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and reporting work as well as related plans and reports. It also includes working with Council Controlled Organisations and Local Boards.
As you will be leading a team of 3, you will have the opportunity to apply your management, communication and people skills in this role.

You might expect to work on:
- Ensuring financial systems and processes are always able to efficiently supply quality-controlled data to users
- Working with the Financial Control team to ensure actual results are available on a comparable basis
- Champion moves towards the provision of easy to access high-quality on-demand data and information for both internal and external users
He kōrero mōu: About you
To be successful in this role you will have at least 10 years’ experience working with financial data and systems, ideally within highly-collaborative or multi-layered organisations.
We will also be looking for specific experience with:
- Technical knowledge of financial systems, data structures, models and processes
- Proven track record in successfully delivering process improvements
- Prior experience in successfully implementing significant changes to a major financial system
- People management experience – we want an inspiring leader!
We would also expect you will be looking to develop yourself in a stimulating and encouraging environment.
