Full time, Permanent Role, Early December 2024 start.

  • Lead labour market initiatives to drive employment growth in the Bay of Plenty region.
  • Build strong partnerships with employers, industry, and community groups.
  • Use data-driven insights to create tailored solutions for local job seekers.

We are looking for a strong relationship-builder who can effectively influence and inspire their team, employers, and partners to get behind labour market initiatives. Your ability to engage and align key stakeholders will be critical to driving collaboration and achieving sustainable employment outcomes in the Bay of Plenty region.

Reporting to the Regional Commissioner, you will be responsible for identifying and facilitating the development of strategic employment opportunities across the region. This role involves collaboration with employers, industry sectors, community groups, government agencies, and Iwi to develop labour market initiatives that support employment outcomes.

About You

You will coordinate government investments in labour market development, ensuring opportunities are tailored to meet the needs of the labour market, in turn benefiting job seekers, particularly those in disadvantaged communities. A strong understanding of current labour market issues is essential.

Your ability to build strategic relationships with industry partners, providers, and agencies will drive sustainable employment outcomes for the region. Your skill in analysing labour market intelligence—such as regional employment forecasts—will be key to developing strategic initiatives that address the specific employment needs of the Bay of Plenty.

This role also involves close collaboration with the MSD Service Delivery Industry Partnerships team in managing accounts, implementing national employment initiatives, and shaping labour market strategies.

As you will lead a team of employment professionals, experience in leading teams to achieve strategic goals and successfully deliver national employment initiatives is highly advantageous.

Key attributes for this role include:

  • Strong business acumen with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
  • Proven experience in leading teams to deliver on strategic plans.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills at a senior level.
