Eurofins Food and Water Testing New Zealand provides range of class leading food, water, plant, soil and  fertilizer testing, as well as horticultural services, auditing and technical solutions, primarily to the New Zealand market. With a staff of over 350 we operate laboratories in Auckland, Wellington, Hamilton, Christchurch, Dunedin, Taupo, Hastings, Queenstown, and Invercargill. We specialise in all Food types, Plants, Soils, Fertilizers, Potable Water, Sludge, Soil & Sediments, Leachate, Trade Waste Effluents, Sewage Effluents, Surface Water, River & Stream Monitoring, Seawater, and Groundwater. 

Job Description

Reporting to the Business Manager, as a Production Manager, you will:

  • Lead the Production of the Chemistry and Microbiology departments, ensuring efficient daily operations and adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Drive initiatives around productivity, cost reduction and optimisation and improving turnaround times to enhance service offerings and customer satisfaction.
  • Foster a team-oriented environment, encouraging open communication, creativity, and collaboration in problem-solving.
  • Lead lean management and continuous improvement efforts to optimise laboratory workflows and increase efficiency.
  • Develop and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to ensure that operational goals are achieved.
  • Ensure cross-selling synergies with other Eurofins laboratories across the Pacific, leveraging expertise and resources.
  • Maintain compliance with all relevant contractual, and quality standards, ensuring that the lab remains fully accredited and in line with industry best practices.
  • Drive initiatives around Health and Safety and compliance to ISO45001 requirements.

Qualifications

Background: You bring at least 10 years of experience in an operations/production/technical role within commercial laboratory testing, preferably in the Chemistry field. You have successfully led continuous improvement projects, shown a proven ability to increase productivity and optimisation. 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific field, preferably in Chemistry.

Skills:

  • Excellent people management skills with the ability to manage, motivate, and develop teams. 
  • Experience in Lean management and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong scientific and organisational skills with a focus on process optimisation and operational efficiency.
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written), with attention to detail and the ability to work closely with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in ISO17025 and non-conformities management.
  • Analytical Instrument knowledge including but not limited to PCR, LCMS, GCMS, ICPMS, IC is preferred.
