Job Description

Are you ready to spark your next big career move? We’re looking for a hands-on, solutions-focused Gas and Generation Team Leader to join our team at Whitford Landfill Energy Park.

Why this role matters

At the forefront of turning waste into electricity, our Energy Park houses five powerful generators, flares, blowers, and compressors, all working together to produce power for the national grid. With increasing investment and operational complexity, we're creating a new leadership role to ensure smooth, efficient, and environmentally responsible operations - every single day.

What You’ll Be Doing

As the Gas and Generation Team Leader, you’ll take charge of day-to-day operations for our landfill gas-to-energy systems, leading onsite decision-making, coordinating maintenance, optimising energy output, and ensuring environmental compliance, particularly around our Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) and odour management obligations.

  • Overseeing the performance and maintenance of landfill gas assets, including internal combustion generators.
  • Streamlining reporting, data tracking, and resource planning.
  • Managing critical spare parts and ensuring equipment availability.
  • Supporting the environmental team with compliance and monitoring.
  • Reducing travel demands on the Redvale-based team and supporting other landfills like Tirohia when needed.

Qualifications

What you’ll bring

  • Solid operational or technical background in energy, waste, or heavy industry.
  • Strong problem-solving and leadership capabilities.
  • Experience managing or maintaining mechanical systems (e.g., engines, blowers, flares).
  • A proactive mindset with an eye for optimisation and compliance.
  • Ability to make informed decisions in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
