Downer holds a long term Asset Management and Facilities Management contract with the Department of Corrections (DoC) and the Ministry of Justice (MoJ). This Contract involves the proactive management and delivery of facilities services to a national portfolio including 100 courts and 157 community correctional sites.
The Property Manager (based in Wellington) will oversee service delivery for the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) and Corrections Community Sites (CCS) within the Lower North Region.This role primarily involves managing the operational activities at MoJ and CCS sites, supported by service delivery coordinators. However, the Property Manager holds ultimate responsibility for the performance of these sites. Key responsibilities include ensuring the efficient flow of tasks from start to finish, streamlining processes to free up time for conducting site inspections. The role requires regular travel to conduct site inspections across the portfolio.
In addition, the Property Manager will:
- Demonstrate active engagement with Zero Harm and ensure safety across all sites.
- Build strong customer relationships, ensuring positive and constructive interactions.
- Manage job delivery efficiently, ensuring safety, cost-effectiveness, quality, and KPIs are met.
- Oversee subcontractor performance, site compliance including BWOF and HSNO, and deliver services aligned with Downer Values.

- Over 5 years of management experience in the facilities industry with strong analytical, numeric, and decision-making skills.
- Proven ability to drive operational activities, ensuring quality, adherence to schedules, and minimization of rework.
- Experienced in resource planning, scheduling, time management, and meeting deadlines.
- Strong knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 with demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in MS Outlook, Word, and Excel, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
