What’s the mahi?
As our new Senior Engineering Geologist, you’ll be a vital part of the NZ Transport Team and have the opportunity to provide technical inputs and create valuable solutions to support to a variety of key infrastructure & Water projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Ground Investigation & Risk Management: Lead and manage ground investigations for major infrastructure projects, ensuring effective risk assessment and mitigation strategies.
Technical Expertise & Delivery: Provide expert input into engineering geological models, site assessments, and design recommendations.
Project & Client Engagement: Collaborate with clients and multidisciplinary teams to develop tailored solutions and deliver successful project outcomes.
Work-Winning & Business Development: Support and contribute to securing new work through technical expertise and industry engagement.
Team Leadership & Mentorship: Guide and develop junior team members, fostering a strong technical capability within the team.
Digital & Innovation Leadership: Drive Aurecon's ground engineering digital strategy to enhance project efficiency and technical excellence.
What are we looking for from you?
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in geology, with proven experience in ground investigation management. Local experience in Auckland or Wellington is essential to ensure familiarity with regional geological conditions and infrastructure projects.
Alongside this, you will have the following:
Extensive experience of undertaking ground investigations on site including specification of targeted testing and sampling, preparation and review of laboratory test schedules and control of samples
A focus on Quality when checking logs, sections, models and factual reports generated by others
Production, review and verification of geotechnical factual and interpretive reports for and in accordance with the requirements of a range of clients including NZTA
Experience of undertaking slope stability assessments and experience or involvement in Natural Hazards and Resilience Studies
Experience of working closely with geotechnical engineers to develop earthworks designs, specifications, and construction supervision to minimise natural hazards risks
Familiarity with liquefaction assessments, settlement analysis and foundation design
A relevant qualification in Geology/ Engineering Geology or Geotechnical / Civil related
