Senior Calibration Technician
Te tūnga | The role
We have a permanent part-time opportunity (0.6FTE) for a Senior Technician to calibrate a range of laboratory equipment. The role also supports the quality team within the Health Security Group, based at our Kenepuru Science Centre in Wellington. Travel between the Wellington sites is required, so a valid driver’s licence is essential.
In this role, you may be involved in:
- Carrying out equipment calibrations within agreed timeframes, and in accordance with accreditation requirements.
- Co-ordinating necessary equipment checks, servicing and maintenance as outlined by external parties.
- Maintaining instrument and calibration records in Q-Pulse
- Providing advice to laboratories, including interpretation of calibration results and provision of routine testing plans.
- Monitor and train calibration staff as required.

To be successful in this role you will have:
- A relevant tertiary qualification in science or relevant experience.
- High level of technical skills.
- Experience with Quality Assurance systems.
- Familiarity with Q-Pulse and other software such as Workday/MS Office Suite.
- An appreciation of sound laboratory practice including an appreciation of the importance of the development of standard operating procedures.
- A methodical approach to work, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively, and able to meet deadlines to provide excellent service.
