It is a great time to join our Civil business. We have plenty of work, we have a positive future pipeline of work and we are in growth-mode. Our Civil business is a division of the Business specialising in Infrastructure Construction, based around Reinforced Concrete. We are currently delivering work ranging from Bridges and Wharves to Water Treatment Plants and Storage Tanks and Pipelines.
In addition to the above you will:
- Developing advice including construction plans and documentation
- Managing the teams and sub-contractors within your area and coordinating with the other team to ensure optimisation of resources and efficiency
- Planning the execution of the works and develop construction methodology for all elements of the works
- Provide a monthly forecast of cost to complete to the commercial manager, and an estimate of the work completed in terms of percentages complete to the planner
- Optimising the use of material, plant and labour
- Reporting progress and performance
- Maintaining a safe and tidy site, assisting in the development of management systems and ensuring compliance within your team
- Undertaking regular inspections to ensure that safety, environmental, and quality standards are achieve across the project

What we’re looking for:
This position requires the leadership, energy, structures construction knowledge and capability to be hands on, providing coaching and mentoring to team members on various technical elements, ensuring that work is completed to deadline and a high quality. Other skills you will need are:
- Proven experience in major civil D&C construction projects and are familiar with NZS3916 and the Construction Contracts Act.
- You will have a strong history of successfully managing staff and subcontractors.
- Proven experience managing budgets and programmes.
- Excellent leadership qualities.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills.
- Financial focus towards project costs.
- Proven ability in subcontractor management.
- You will need a minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Structural Engineer and have a BE, NZCE or a Diploma in Civil Engineering.
