About the Role (Your Why)
The People and Culture Advisor is responsible for supporting process improvement, career development, retention and engagement initiatives to promote Datacom’s internal culture. This role will assist in projects that analyse, develop and implement strategy for the human resources function in line with the broader Datacom direction. This role supports the People and Culture Manager and the broader team to improve overall business functions.
Our offices are based in Auckland and Wellington. We like to bring people together in person when we can, but we are mindful of the benefits of working from home for work/life balance. We therefore leave it to you and the team you join to figure out what works best!
What You’ll Do
The People and Culture Advisor is responsible for (but not limited to):
- Supporting the implementation of strategy for the functional area, in line with the broader Datacom strategy.
- Providing high-level and timely support to leaders and staff on all aspects of the employee lifecycle, ranging from people and culture operations, onboarding and offboarding activities, supporting the interpretation and delivery of employment relations activities, information management and reporting, remuneration and benefits.
- Ensuring the effective use of people and culture initiatives and process compliance across the organisation.
- Collating and analysing cultural data and providing recommendations to management on strategies to improve employee engagement.
- Ensuring people and culture initiatives are in line with cost and service structures, productivity measures and delivery methods to achieve planned targets.
- Build and foster trusted relationships with business leaders and our people, providing timely practical advice on a wide range of employment and people matters
- Advise on ER related matters with support of our ER team
- Provide internal reporting and analysis

What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor degree in Business, IT, Human Resources or a related discipline
- 4+ years of Human Resource experience.
- Significant experience with deploying a wide range of employee initiatives within a complex industry.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and executing effective programs that support a positive company culture and employee experience.
- Demonstrated experience in identifying, developing and implementing organisational policies and procedures that ensure efficiency and respond to business demands.
- Extensive knowledge of employee and industrial relations frameworks.
- Knowledge in people management best practice principles, initiatives and processes.
- Knowledge of state, federal and company compliance.
- Ability to manage complex issues of diverse scope where analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of a variety of factors, including an understanding of current business trends.
- Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
- Proven negotiating skills with the aptitude to ensure win/win situations for all parties.
