Te Tūranga - The Role

Are you an experienced payroll professional looking for the next step in your career? Tait Communications is seeking a Senior Payroll Officer to join our high-performing team in Christchurch. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of our payroll functions across multiple locations.

As a Senior Payroll Officer, you will be responsible for preparing and processing the monthly payroll for Tait International Limited, while also providing support to the Payroll Manager and backing up other payrolls within the team as required. You'll have the opportunity to work on key remediation projects and contribute to process improvements, helping to ensure our payroll systems remain compliant and efficient.

The duties of the role will include:

  • Processing monthly salaries, including terminations and new starters.
  • Providing accurate and timely payroll information to TIL management.
  • Preparing monthly journals and reconciliations for payroll.
  • Providing back-up for processing other payrolls, including those for:
    • Tait International Limited (Weekly)
    • Tait North America
    • Tait Electronics (Aust) Pty Ltd
    • Tait (Far East) Limited
    • Tait Systems NZ Limited
    • RFI Technology Solutions Limited
  • Supporting the Payroll Manager and other team members as needed.
  • Calculating remediation for Holidays Act non-compliance for former employees.
  • Reviewing or creating templates for calculations and interrogating payment/leave history in PayGlobal.
  • Contributing to other payroll-related projects within the team as required.

To be successful in this role, you will have relevant tertiary qualifications and/or significant payroll experience. You'll thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Required:

  • 4-5 years'+ payroll experience.
  • Strong understanding of payroll statutory requirements.
  • Methodical and well-organised approach to work.
  • Ability to manage workload and meet reporting and processing deadlines.

Preferred:

  • Experience using PayGlobal and TimeFiler.
