He angitūtanga: The opportunity
Auckland Council has an exciting opportunity for an Executive Office Community Graduate to join our team.
The Executive Office Community works across the Community Directorate to provide the support, systems and advice to the five large departments that support our city’s communities and environment. We’re the oil in the engine that helps our incredible departments to excel at what they do.
You can expect to be involved in a range of projects, research and programmes which will involve working within three key teams:
- Advisory: Leading the systems, processes and quality of our advice to elected members.
- Work Programming : Building the annual work programme for local boards – with visibility of the thousands of projects on the go, and helping local boards to make informed trade off decisions to support community outcomes
- Operations Support: Providing support in official information, learning and development and issue resolution helping our kaimahi to grow, learn and be responsive to customer needs.

We are looking for an innovative graduate, with a cup half full, productive and ‘get stuck in’ approach. They’ll be eager to work with a high performing team who spend their days being adaptable and able to work in ambiguous situations, applying a broad range of skillsets to achieve outcomes.
Our new graduate will possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. They’ll be good at ‘reading a room’ and able to build relationships quickly, connect well with others, and understand what it means to lead through influence.

To be eligible to apply, you must have the following:
- Eligibility to work in New Zealand for more than 3 years without sponsorship
- Minimum of a relevant Bachelor’s degree completed January 2024 – January 2026

This role has a starting salary of $65,000
