Are you an experienced traffic management professional with strong leadership skills and a passion for safety? Downer New Zealand is looking for a dedicated Traffic Management Supervisor to join our Wellington team. This your opportunity to lead a dynamic team, ensuring best in class traffic management solutions for our clients and wider community. 

As the TTM Supervisor, you will play a key role in overseeing and coordinating the activities for our traffic management delivery teams. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations while maintaining high safety, environmental, and quality standards. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Implement and oversee traffic control plans using signage, barriers, cones, and lights to ensure safe and efficient traffic flow while minimising disruptions. 
• Ensure compliance with traffic management regulations, enforce safety protocols, and address hazards to maintain a secure work zone.
• Liaise with local authorities, emergency services, and contractors to ensure public safety, provide traffic updates, and report issues.
• Oversee the Traffic Controller crew, ensure proper training and equipment, and conduct briefings to clarify roles and responsibilities
• Track traffic conditions, adjust control plans as needed, and maintain records of operations, incidents, and changes.
• Manage traffic diversions during incidents, coordinate with emergency responders, and ensure safe and efficient access to accident scenes.

 

Nga pūkenga matua | Important Skills 

The Traffic Management Supervisor will possess strong leadership skills, exceptional problem-solving abilities, and a keen understanding of traffic management protocols and regulations, as well as:

• Certification in traffic control or related safety programs 
• Knowledge of local traffic and safety standards
• Previous experience in traffic management or construction supervision  
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with the public, contractors, and law enforcement
• Proficiency in using traffic management software and tools for data analysis and reporting.
• Full Class-2 licence
• STMS ABC Practising Training Qualifications
