About the role:

As a Platform Engineer – Cloud, you will lead cloud strategy initiatives from design to implementation. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to define the vision, architecture, and governance of Foodstuffs’ Digital Platforms. 
 
Key accountabilities include: 


•    AWS Services: Deep understanding of core AWS services (IAM, VPC, EC2, S3, RDS, etc.) to architect scalable and secure solutions.
•    Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Strong experience with Terraform (primary), with additional proficiency in Ansible or other IaC tools.
•    Containerization & Linux: Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and general Linux systems administration.
•    Scripting & Automation: Strong skills in scripting languages (Shell, Python, etc.) to automate processes and reduce manual effort.
•    Networking: Proficiency in TCP/IP networking, reverse proxying (TCP, HTTP), and troubleshooting tools (DNS, TCP, HTTP/CDN).
•    CI/CD: Familiarity with CI/CD tools like GitHub to support continuous integration and deployment.
•    Well-Architected Framework: Ability to apply AWS Well-Architected Framework principles to ensure secure, high-performance, and highly available infrastructure.
•    Cloud Service Deployment: Expertise in deploying and enhancing cloud services, including containers, load balancers, firewalls, databases, monitoring, and alerting tools.
•    Security & Compliance: Knowledge of security frameworks (PCI, NIST, CIS) and a focus on enforcing security best practices across cloud infrastructure.
•    Operational Efficiency: Focus on minimizing operational toil through automation, continual process improvement, and cost-effective practices.
•    Documentation: Ability to maintain clear and comprehensive design and process documentation.

About you:

You’ll be experienced in leading cloud implementation and tooling, as well as an excellent communicator with the ability to work effectively across teams and stakeholders. Ideally, you’ll also bring knowledge across:  


•    Cloud Infrastructure Expertise: Proven ability to build and maintain cloud infrastructure in commercial settings, specifically using Terraform Cloud, and deploying high-availability, secure and resilient solutions.
•    CI/CD & Monitoring: Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and monitoring solutions (Splunk preferred), ensuring system health, performance, and continuous improvement.
•    Scripting & Automation: Strong background in scripting (Python, PowerShell) to automate build, deployment, and operational tasks, reducing manual efforts and improving efficiency.
•    Broad IT Architecture Knowledge: Extensive understanding of enterprise-level IT components, such as Networking, Databases, RBAC, and Web Services, contributing to the design and deployment of scalable and secure cloud solutions.
•    Collaboration & Mentorship: A collaborative team player with a proactive mindset, excelling in mentoring peers and driving innovation in an evolving environment.
•    Problem-Solving & Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills, with a strong focus on detail, enabling the candidate to address complex issues effectively.
•    Prioritization & Deadline Management: Skilled at managing multiple projects, meeting deadlines, and balancing competing priorities with a focus on delivering high-quality results.
•    Security & Compliance: A strong understanding of security best practices and compliance frameworks, ensuring cloud infrastructure is secure, compliant, and resilient.

 

You will also have the following desired certifications: 

 

•    Cloud Architecture Certifications (AWS Solutions Architect, GCP Cloud Architect)
•    Cloud Operations Certifications (AWS SysOps Administrator, AWS Developer, GCP Cloud DevOps Engineer)
•    Automation & Tooling Certifications (HashiCorp Terraform, HashiCorp Vault, GitHub Administration, GitHub Actions, Red Hat Ansible, Splunk ITSI, Splunk Cloud )
