Settlements Officer

Description
This role involves a hands-on approach to supporting settlement services for Apex clients and collaborating with various departments across the company. Principal responsibilities include conducting peer reviews and providing backup for Custodial roles within the broader Apex Custody teams.
Job specification
Verify the validity of all client instructions to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Accurately record trades in the internal accounting system, perform trade matching with counterparties, and instruct Custodians in accordance with agreed deadlines.
Coordinate the physical settlement of both international and domestic investment transactions, encompassing Equities, Fixed Interest, Unitized Investments, Derivatives, and Foreign Exchange transactions.
Maintain and update the procedures manual, while continuously seeking opportunities to enhance working practices.
Investigate and resolve settlement issues promptly, escalating to management as necessary.
Ensure timely investigation and resolution of all reconciliation breaks.
Assist with Corporate Actions entry and verification as needed.
Adhere to and ensure compliance with all service delivery standards established for the Settlements team.
Contribute to the development and implementation of controls and processes to uphold a robust control environment in line with industry best practices.
Foster and maintain strong relationships with both internal and external clients.
Perform additional Investment Operations duties as required by the business.
Skills Required:
Demonstrated ability to organize and manage workload effectively, prioritize tasks, and meet established deadlines.
Around 3 years experience within and a general knowledge of the financial markets industry
Advanced problem-solving skills with a strong analytical approach.
Exceptional attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with internal stakeholders, clients, and professionals across the financial services industry.
