Job Description
Mō te tūranga | About the Role
The Head Gardener is responsible for the maintenance and development of all gardens, lawns, and landscaping within our community, in accordance with an existing framework and schedule. We run natural, non-toxic systems in our villages providing the best outcomes for our residents.
We are looking for a hardworking Gardener to help with planting, maintaining, and caring for gardens and plants. Responsibilities include loading and moving supplies, preparing garden sites, planting and transplanting, watering, weeding, pruning, mowing, and general garden upkeep.
Experience in gardening or landscaping is preferred but not essential. You should be physically fit, comfortable working outdoors, and able to use gardening tools and light machinery. If you have a passion for plants and enjoy hands-on work.
You will be leading a team of two full-time gardeners with some part-time assistance. We are looking for an energetic, enthusiastic, and experienced gardener looking for their next big property to manage.

- Demonstrated competence in a similar role
- Demonstrated knowledge of plants, growth patterns,
- Highly motivated, flexible, and able to take initiative
- Safe work practices
- NZ Drivers License and the ability to drive a small manual truck
We will be interviewing and screening NZ Residents and NZ Citizens as a priority before looking internationally.
- NZQF Level 1 qualification, or compulsory secondary education (ANZSCO Skill Level 5)
- Ideally, Level 2 or 3 Horticulture with a desire to continue with Level 4 although this is not essential as training will be provided for an enthusiastic applicant

- $32.00 to $40.00 - depending on qualifications and experience

- Strong understanding of habitats, plants, and growth patterns
- Demonstrated competence in a similar role and ability to mange a small team
- Highly motivated, flexible, and able to take initiative
- NZ Drivers License for Village Vehicles including a manual small truck

- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities
- Committed to safe work practices
- The ability to focus attention on our resident's needs while remaining calm and courteous
