Agricultural Manager
The Agricultural Managers key purpose is to direct the crop supply activities for the site. Through collaboration with other functions in the factory & wider business, these activities ensure that the crop demand plans, safety, quality & compliance requirements are all at the required standard.
The Agricultural Manager is also a member of the Factory Leadership Team.
Primary Responsibilities:
Aligned with the sanctioned crop plan, direct the contracts of growers, crop scheduling, & harvesting
Lead the agronomy team to deliver the crop plan as per schedule
Lead the harvest & garage team to ensure high reliability of harvest equipment & ensure harvesting activities are aligned with the factory plan
Ensure the agronomy & harvest teams are focussed on delivering yield improvements, both within the factory & in the field
Build & maintain strong relationships with contract growers
Strong financial management of all crop supply & harvesting cost drivers
Ensure all compliance requirements are well understood & followed
Champion sustainability, research & development programs
Clear communication both internal to the factory & external to the wider business
Active member of the factory leadership team
Champion KHMS into agricultural practices
Work closely with commercial to develop & support growth strategies
Work with technical peers & industry experts (both internal & external) to support & improve agricultural practices
Education & Experience:
Experience in commercial vegetable or arable crop production environments
Experience of building & managing supplier relationships
Experience of leading high performing teams
Demonstrated ability to enact positive change & a continuous improvement mindset
Food manufacturing factory experience is highly preferential
Experience of management of agricultural compliance activities is preferred
Tertiary qualifications in agricultural or horticultural science, agricultural commerce or similar
