About us:

Murdoch Manufacturing is a wholly owned subsidiary of Foodstuffs South Island Ltd; manufacturing and packing a diverse range of food and beverage products for the retail market nationally.  We have three operations based over two sites in Christchurch with our Repack and Sauce Plants based at Wigram, and our Carbonated Soft Drinks Plant based at Hornby.

About the role:

We are seeking an individual who is experienced, reliable, enthusiastic and motivated to efficiently assist in the internal auditing of our food safety, food quality and workplace safety systems to ensure compliance with regulatory and customer requirements are met and help drive continuous improvement.

 

The position is based at our plant in Wigram and reports to the Compliance Manager. You will be working alongside another Compliance Officer, and the role will see you working solely at the Wigram site.

Key tasks include:

  • Inspection of raw materials at receipt and during production
  • Inspection and clearance of manufactured Sauces for packing and release, and Repack finished product for release making sure all products are of a high quality and match specifications
  • Monitoring of clean down processes both visually and using ATP test kits
  • Procurement of samples for laboratory testing
  • Ensuring all Food Safety and Quality procedures are adhered to, and process paperwork is completed as required
  • Ensure all required documents such as supplier certifications, raw material documentation, SDS’s are kept current
  • Monitoring food safety and workplace safety stock supplies including PPE gear
  • Participation on the Workplace Safety Committee
  • Ensuring all Workplace Safety Driver and Contractors Inductions information is kept up to date.
  • Strictly adhering to all Workplace Safety requirements 

 

Previous experience in a similar role is essential.

Preferred experience would include:

  • 2-3 year’s experience in Food Safety and Quality Control within the food industry
  • Knowledge of NZ Food legislation and food safety codes and standards
  • Knowledge of the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015
  • At minimum intermediate Microsoft Office skills
  • Understanding of and ability to complete quality control, food safety and workplace safety paperwork
  • Have clear communication skills and able to work independently and as an effective team member
  • Complete all tasks with efficiency and to a high standard
  • Innovative along with good problem-solving skills
  • Proven experience with compliance audit systems
