Job Description

He aha te tūranga - About the role:

Our Community Education team empowers young people with essential life skills, helping them build confidence in first aid and mental wellbeing. As a Community Educator, you’ll visit schools and early childhood centres across West and North Auckland, delivering engaging, high-energy sessions that inspire tamariki to look after themselves and others.

  • 32 hours per week, permanent part-time – programme delivery occurs during school hours, while planning and admin can be done at times that suit you
  • Auckland-based – travel required across North and West Auckland
  • Work-use car provided
  • $28 per hour

With both curricula already designed, your role is to bring them to life! You’ll create an engaging learning environment, adapting your approach to different age groups and learning styles.

Qualifications

Ko wai koe - About you:

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Loves working with young people and can engage them in a meaningful way
  • Has an understanding of diverse cultures and learning styles
  • Can adapt teaching methods to suit different age groups and needs
  • Is well-organised with great time management skills
  • Holds a full, clean NZ driver’s licence
  • Has a genuine passion for empowering tamariki

A basic knowledge of Te Reo Māori is highly desirable but not essential.

What happens during school holidays?

You have flexibility! Options include:

  • Running sessions for early childhood education (ECE) or holiday programmes,
  • Taking annual leave, and/or
  • Opting for leave without pay.

We’ll work with you to find the best fit for your needs.

How much admin is involved?

Approximately 20% of your role will be admin-related. 

Who books the education sessions?

Initially, we’ll handle bookings while you settle in. Once comfortable, you’ll take the lead in reaching out to schools/kura and building new relationships.
