Mō te tūranga - About the role


As a Markets Finance Associate in our Markets and Treasury Financial Control (MTFC) team, you’ll play a key role in producing financial reporting and analysis for the Markets and Treasury divisions whilst maintaining a robust control environment. MTFC ensures the business is well managed from a financial and regulatory standpoint through the application of disciplined end-to-end trial balance control processes including but not limited to Balance Sheet (BS) & Profit/Loss (P&L) recognition and substantiation, P&L explain/attribution of all market and model inputs, defined valuation adjustments, analytical review and review of regulatory data, and performance attribution.

 

The Markets Finance Associate is a specialist and subject matter expert to senior stakeholders and/or other team members who is expected to support and develop collaborative relationships with the business, ensuring no surprises. You will seek ways to continuously improve end-to-end production and assess if further evolution and streamlining of processes are needed. The role requires a good understanding of Markets and a strong control mindset.

As a Market Finance Associate, you will be responsible for supporting accounting and reporting activities to support the Financial Control team. It includes providing appropriate support to the Financial Controller (and Divisional Financial Controller) by ensuring delivery of month-end requirements (including statutory and regulatory reporting). This role will also include support the Financial Controller in providing reporting, analysis, and commentary on results to senior management. 


In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

 

  • Communicate and deliver to stakeholder’s financial results and analysis including reporting of actual and forecast performance 
  • Support the accuracy of financial control outputs, by ensuring processes adhere to compliance and control disciplines 
  • Support compliance with all applicable reporting requirements (both internal and external) - Support the completion and accuracy of the monthly close process including finalisation of actuals
  • Ensure the accuracy and compliance of ANZ accounting policies and processes including preparation of journal requests, supporting month end activities, and completing necessary checks and reconciliations to ensure the accuracy of financial information 
  • Support the preparation of all external statutory and regulatory including reporting to the Supervisor 
  • Support the timely response of auditor requests and queries 
  • Apply rigorous financial analysis and ensure decisions drive financial performance 
  • Maintain effective relationships with stakeholders ensuring all needs are delivered 
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with other management functions to enable effective exchange of information required to support general accounting services

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

 

  • Bachelors’ university degree and be a qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) / Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) - Professional experience in financial services roles 
  • Solid working knowledge of financial control within a financial services environment 
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives 
  • Experience in presenting finance matters, including issues and resolutions to stakeholders
