Job Description
Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
We are seeking an Event Technician to join our Event Services Team to coordinate and deliver audio-visual and logistical services for a range of University of Auckland events, faculties and departments across University of Auckland campuses.
You will be responsible for responding to enquiries from within the university customer base – completing orders, setting up furniture and equipment, and operating technical equipment as required for a wide range of events on campus. You will also be assisting with the delivery of online events, creating webinars, filming, live streaming, and post-production video management.
Due to the nature of the work, some evening and weekend work will be required along with flexibility across shifts.
This is a full-time (37.5 hours per week), permanent opportunity.
The remuneration is $58,300 - $68,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience.

He kōrero mōu | About you
Our ideal candidate will have strong experience as an Event Technician, setting up and operating audio-visual technical equipment, ideally with live-streaming experience. You will have great interpersonal skills which will assist you as you interact with stakeholders across the University. Friendly, with a can-do attitude, able to take the initiative and work both independently as well as part of a team.
You will also need a high level of physical fitness as heavy lifting and equipment set up/ pack down are a key part of this role.
Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills
- Audio Visual/ Lighting and Production Tertiary Qualification or Equivalent
- 5 years experience providing AV support for events and functions
- Experience using audio-visual equipment
- Experience in a similar role is required
- Proactive with excellent communication skills
- Effective time management
- High level of competence with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, MS Teams and Outlook.
- Experience with Microsoft Visio, Adobe Premiere/rush, Salesforce would be advantageous.
- Full driver’s license
