Company Description

Meridian is the largest producer of renewable electricity in Aotearoa and we strive to deliver clean energy for a fairer and healthier world. We only generate electricity from 100% renewable resources – wind, water and sun, because we believe that’s the best way forward for our planet and our communities. We also retail electricity to more than 380,000 homes, businesses and farms across New Zealand through our Meridian and Powershop brands.

Mō te tūranga | What you’ll be doing

This role will see you ensuring successful delivery of quality service on our wind turbines at the Te Apiti site situated near Palmerston North.

Each day, you’ll carry out scheduled services and reactive maintenance on a number of our turbines (we have 55 of them at Te Apiti!). You will also be required to respond and attend to reactive maintenance and monitoring outside of normal working hours on a rostered basis (approx. 1 week in 10).

Your peers are a team of multi-disciplined Wind Maintenance Technicians who work hard to keep our turbines in great shape.  Working with the support of the Team Lead and the Site Owner, you will work safely on a daily basis to deliver on our maintenance plan.

Ngā pukenga kei a koe mō tenei tūranga | What you’ll bring

  • You’ll either be a Trade qualified Mechanical Fitter, Hydraulic Engineer on the mechanical side or an EAS/EST qualified technician registered Electrician or have an Electrical trade qualification.

  • Prepared to get your hands dirty in support of mechanical tasks as part of any given day.

  • Because of the nature of the work, you’ll need to be physically fit and able to climb up to 70 metres and lift up to 25kg.

  • You’ll be comfortable working in confined spaces, and it goes without saying able to work at height!

  • Having experience in the wind industry and an appetite and ability to work in all types of weather will be an advantage.
