Performance Engineer

Assist in delivering Vista’s Performance Engineering strategy across Vista’s SDLC and SaaS environments, including the development of world-class tooling and maintenance of platforms and test assets.
This junior level Performance Engineer role is part of team that carries out both internal consulting activities and performance testing, as well as training engineering teams to progressively take ownership of performance concerns.
About the role
Performance Testing:
- Build and maintain Vista’s Performance Engineering platform, including processes, analysis tools and the testing framework
- Manage Vista’s performance testing environments, both on-premise and Cloud
- Work along-side engineering teams to design and implement load tests appropriate for purpose across the various Vista products
- Deep investigations of performance results, reporting findings back to key stakeholders as required
- Provide Training and guidance to engineering teams to help take ownership of their own performance testing assets and testing functions
Performance Troubleshooting:
- Provide performance troubleshooting and issue resolution services to both Operational and Engineering teams as required
Services Consulting:
- Help Services Teams with tools and technology for diagnosing customer system issues
- Work with Knowledge Services team to create required documentation

Requirements
About you:
- You have an investigative mindset, with a drive to solve problems and figure out “how things work”
- Confidence to develop code using some or all of Python, React, Powershell, or other languages as needed
- Experience with troubleshooting complex technical issues
- Ability to understand and process complex data sets, interpret metrics and derive conclusions
- Knowledge of monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Datadog, APMs, etc...
- Knowledge of Load Testing techniques and testing tools, such as JMeter
- Knowledge and experience across multiple architectural areas, including client and server applications, databases, network technologies and Azure cloud
- A critical thinker, able to balance scepticism and confidence, based on the strength of evidence
- Ability to communicate ideas and concepts clearly and concisely
- Down to earth, pragmatic approach; ability to balance aspirational goals and direction with real world constraints and business reality
- Experience working in a SaaS company is beneficial
- Relevant tertiary qualification (computer science, applied maths/statistics or similar) or equivalent experience
